As a Musician
VISION
As a performer my philosophy is that irrelevant of the instrument one plays, the musical perception and background they develop is what really makes a difference.
As a metaphor, one could see it as a musician's instrument being the tip of a pen while their musical knowledge in general being the ink. Knowing how to properly hold the pen is important, but it is what you write with it that really matters.
